Boho Belt Crochet Free Pattern

I was skimming through the internet one evening looking for boho or hippie type accessories which happen to be very popular at the moment.  I came across a belt that was very pretty and had that boho or hippie vibe to it.  The belt was for sale on a retail web site thus no pattern was available.  It looked simple enough so I decided to just wing it and see if I could come up with something close.  This belt has tassels on the ends but would look just as nice without them or even with a different closure.  I have written out the pattern I came up with below.  Feel free to use it as you wish as long as you give me credit if you sell it as a finished product.

I used Joy DK by Loops & Threads with a 5 mm hook.
Belt is worked lengthwise, then doubled and tacked together.

Belt: Measure waist to determine desired length of belt and make a chain twice that desired length of belt.
Turn, and work dc in 4th ch from hook and dc in each ch across.  Turn, ch 2 and work dc in each dc across.  Break off. Weave in ends.  Double the belt so that the top edges of the dc's are adjacent to one another.  With crochet needle and length of yarn, join the 2 edges by sc the edges together all around the belt. sl stitch together and break off . weave in ends.

Cord: Make a chain about 15 inches long, turn and make a sl st in each ch across. Break off.

Tassels (optional): Cut a cardboard 3 inches wide and 6 inches long.  Cut a  piece of thread about 12 inches long, and place it across the length of cardboard.  Then wind the yarn around the width of cardboard about 20 times.  Break off.  Pick up both ends of the 12-inch long yard, and tie securely.  Slip tassel off cardboard and wind single strand of yarn several times near top of tassel.  Tie securely and break off.  Trim ends evenly.  Lace cord through end loops of belt and sew a tassel to each end.
Repeat for second tassel.

Have fun with this one and if you make one up I would love to see a picture!
