5 Reasons to Take Your Kids Camping

When our children were younger, we went camping nearly every summer or fall.  We found that camping was a great way to bond with our children, teach them survival skills and help them disconnect from the modern world, if only for a few days.

1. Leave technology behind.
This is a great opportunity for kids to disconnect from the outside world.  It gives them a chance to explore the world around them and enjoy nature.
Leave your devices at home and only use your phone for emergencies.

2. Natural Education.
Have your children bring books on nature, survival skills and the local wildlife.  Please don't forget the disposable camera's.  They will have fun taking pictures of wildlife and foliage, and of course each other.  This also provides an educational opportunity by helping them look up the animals and foliage in the nature books you brought along.
 3. Survival Skills.
Children learn great survival skills from camping.  Camping provides a wonderful opportunity to teach your kids how to collect water, set up a shelter (even if it is just a tent), and fire safety.
 4.  They get to see animals in their natural habitat.
Kids get so excited to see animals in their natural habitat.  There is nothing like waking up early, coming out of your tent and see a deer 10 feet away.  The experience is exciting and kids become more enthusiastic to be outside enjoying nature.

5.  Family Memories.
Kids grow up so fast and time disappears without warning.  These are memories you will treasure for a life time!
