Adeline Crochet Blanket and more
The is an adorable crochet blanket I made for a new great niece born a few days ago. I used the Adeline Crochet Blanket Pattern from brightandscrappy.etsy.com
This pattern is easy to follow and works up in no time. I made a minor adjustment on the border only because I wanted a smaller border.
For the sweet little cap, I found a baby hat pattern on CreamOfTheCropCrochet.com. I was able to work this little cap up in about 30 minutes. I wanted to add a little extra sweetness to it so I found a doll buckle in my button box and sewed it to the front of the cap. Don't you just love it?
I enjoyed making this blanket so much that I have started a new one using the same pattern but this time I am color blocking it.
I am using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn. If you aren't familiar with this brand, it is a synthetic yarn that is pretty cheap. It is a little stiff and not soft at all. I have found that putting my finished product in a zipper pillow case and wash it with fabric softener, that it comes out fluffy soft and wonderful!
The recipient of the first blanket has an older brother, and I thought these little bow ties would be so cute on him. I made the crochet bow tie using double crochet. I crocheted 12 across and made 4 rows. I then crocheted the knot using double crochet 7 x 2 rows. I felt that a crocheted neck band would be too bulky under his shirt collar so I used a ribbon instead. I hope he likes his new bow ties!
